Common Uses It has laxative, demulcent, emollient, sweet, tonic, laxative and aphrodisiac properties. Liquorice is believed to be useful in cough, to enhance general immunity, sore throat, bronchitis, abdominal pains, consumption, genitourinary diseases, anorexia, obesity, asthma, hepatitis, persistent low fever and epilepsy. It is also used in coughs, sore throat, genito-urinary disease, peptic ulcers, hyperacidity, pains and spasms. It is non-toxic and three hundred times sweeter than cane sugar.
Indications It is internally used in injury to chest, emaciation, hoarseness of voice, rhinitis, cough, giddiness, thirst, burning sensation, hyperacidity, dysuria, gout, erysipelas, weakness, metrrorahgia, decreased breast milk, weakness in cardiac region. It is externally used for skin diseases, disorders of throat and eyes.
