Common Uses –It has laxative, demulcent, emollient, sweet, tonic, laxative, and aphrodisiac properties. Liquorice is believed to be useful in cough, to enhance general immunity, sore throat, bronchitis, abdominal pains, consumption, genitourinary diseases, anorexia, obesity, asthma, hepatitis, persistent low fever, and epilepsy. It is also used in coughs, sore throat, genitourinary disease, peptic ulcers, hyperacidity, pains, and spasms. It is non-toxic and three hundred times sweeter than cane sugar.
Indications – It is internally used in injury to the chest, emaciation, hoarseness of voice, rhinitis, cough, giddiness, thirst, burning sensation, hyperacidity, dysuria, gout, erysipelas, weakness, metrrorahgia, decreased breast milk, weakness in the cardiac region. It is externally used for skin diseases, disorders of the throat and eyes.
